Ship description
Conceptualized as light corvette that could fill roles of skirmisher and anti- gunship and frigate role in larger fleet compositions. Veles was designed speed and firepower in mind. Capable of outmaneuvering and outrunning gunships currently deployed by both Kingdom and Empire armies. Ship's impressive number of point defense turrets are relegated to supportive role as ships two primary weapon systems are best used from long distance. Top deck mounted Rail cannon and battery of eight vertical launched torpedo tubes provide the Veles class long range firepower. Ship's high top speed and long range weaponry allows effective use of kiting and hit and run tactics.
Ship's secondary intended role is to act as light assault and troop deployment vessel and long range patrol craft. However to maximize speed, Veles class is lightly armored and is ill suited in CQB. To mitigate this weakness, array of 9 twin Autocannon turrets are used as close range point-defense against fighters and missiles. Pair bow facing plasma throwers and missile pods are installed to support the ships assault role and act as supplemental weapons as ship closes the enemy from torpedo range. Due to ship's excessive weapons systems electricity consumption becomes issue when rail cannon and all Autocannons are used simultaneously in prolonged engagement.
Veles Class is plagued by thigh and claustrophobic interior that can become nuisance for it's crew during long patrol missions. This however keeps the ship's overall silhouette minimal and plays in it's intended role as long range sniping platform.
