The Collective is a tech focused faction, chasing big achievements and technological milestones instead of galactic conquest. Collective consists of several autonomous branches, internally known as Subnets, each with its own structure, leadership and purpose. Althrough vastly different from one another, the Subnets share the ideologies of Collective and follow meritocratic principles: if you've got the skills and the dedication, you can rise up the ranks. Despite the menacing appearance and role play, the Collective hive mind is largely neutral and concerned only with its own improvement, aiming to stay outside of conflicts in the community.

Collective is a founding member of the Substrate Alliance.

PROSPERITY THROUGH TECHNOLOGY

Collective aims to be the state-of-the-art in all technology and design; automating the more mundane tasks, with the ultimate end goal of creating Von Neumann probes. Aesthetics of a technical solution hold minimal value, only functionality, efficiency and innovation matter.

Technology

Custom bots

Collective is home to several custom discord bots. Those include Central Mind, moderation and management tools, as well as a virtual currency; Collective Chips. CC Can be used to trade services or hoard for status and memes.

Ship design

Collective prioritizes function over form. A few notable examples of ship design:

• Moonshot - Hatman's ship as the first player on a moon.
• Nightblade - A fighter so heavily armed that a later patch increased weapon cost.
• Gladiator - Heavy fighter built to win the first Boltcracker tournament.

ISAN

ISAN is a navigation system for ships, made with YOLOL. Collective released ISAN to the public, so anyone can install it on their ship.

The coordinates from ISAN can be used alongside the Starmap at isan.to.

Subnets

The Collective subroutines can join one or multiple specialized departments, forming nodes in the subnet. These are are lead by the most skilled and dedicated members, called Cores. The following subnets exist:

Harmonic

The branch focused on diplomacy, roleplay and recruitment. Tasks include participation on diplomatic missions, drafting agreements between factions, managing alliances, recruiting new members, improving the Collective community and maintaining the lore.

S.W.A.R.M.

Collective's military branch, also known as Tactical, with multitude of duties, including warfighting, patrolling, special operations and police actions. S.W.A.R.M. stands for Space Warfare and Advanced Response Module. If you want to use the biggest guns and crew the largest ships, S.W.A.R.M. is the place for you.

R&D

Research & Development, also known as Design and Development, has everything from YOLOL development, ship design, drone engineering to art or propaganda. R&D designs, Logistics produces. Participate on a multitude of projects and have your mark on the outlook of the entire Collective.

Logistical

Economy, construction and information management. Logistics makes money for the Collective, completes construction orders, creates the production lines, analyzes data produced by other branches and consults other branches based on statistics.

Lore

Collective Central Mind

• Subroutine - “A sequence of program instructions that performs a specific task, packaged as a unit.” The common term for any member of Collective.
• Central Mind - The combined minds of all subroutines (members) make up a form of collective consciousness referred to as Central Mind. This entity is the "personification" of Collective's will and goals. (Outside role-play, Central Mind is a custom Discord bot for managing the faction discord)
• Integration - The process of becoming one with Central Mind. Not compatible with any unwilling AI.
• Disintegration - The destruction of enemies of Collective. Central Mind is generally neutral towards anyone not clearly hostile.
• "We are one" - Collective's slogan. Summarizes both hivemind theme as well as the focus on coordinated cooperation to achieve great goals.
