Chemosh is the first moon discovered in the history of Starbase (since EA launch). This is the first celestial landed on by an Endoskeleton. An expedition organised by Messir, piloted by Messir and funded by True Chemosh Cult company - succeeded in being the first to reach the undiscovered moon in the universe. It's community name is Chemosh, which proudly honors the name of the faction that discovered it.
Summary
A flat surface with hills and tiny rock formations. No craters. Atmosphere is green, but during the sunrise and dawn - it is colored with stunning mix of purple and blue.
Flight Time
Total flight time from Origins at max speed takes approximately 60 hours.
CA Attempts
1. Two groups, TCC on one side and Empire+ALR+ARGENT+RH on another side competed in the moon race to a moon, that both sides considered to be undiscovered. Both sides used ineffective ships and the supposedly 48h travel time took a week or so for them. It was recorded as the longest chase in the history of game industry. However, all moons back then were similar, and the destination moon appeared to be Elysium. TCC representative reached it first and managed to score the first moon kill in the history of Starbase, by ambushing and killing the other side's representative with Gauss Rifle and destroying their ship. Before TCC knew it was Elysium, they gave it a name: Chemosh. However the moon appeared to be already discovered and named, so the 'new name' was rejected by the community and abandoned by the competitors.
2. ALR+ARGENT made another attempt in secret, in order to fly to the most distant moon in the CA universe. The flight took a week real time. After they landed, they called the moon 'Red Lyrium' and then went to another moon, which was relatively close to first one. However, both moons again appeared to be discovered and named Elysium and Artemis. They were also the closest moons to Eos.
First Journey
When EA hit, Messir started to construct his 'Chemosh Ark III' ship, codenamed 'Chemosh Voyager I' in order to travel to an undiscovered moon and make sure he is succedeed this time. The first two beams were welded in SSC in the first hour of EA and the ship finished the second day. Its purchase was funded by his entire company, True Chemosh Cult codenamed 'Chemosh' in the game, due to restrictions of that time. The journey took about 3 days in total, slightly more than it should have, because of the insufficient radiators (one part was missing) which caused lack of cooling and slower speed. But despite that, Chemosh Ark III was the first ship that was able to make it to an undiscovered moon in Starbase EA. The moon was chosen as destination because it was slightly behind the planet - which is the place where absolutely no moons were located in Closed Alpha. To prevent possible naming conflict, that particular moon behind the Eos horizon was chosen. It was located in a place where nothing was in CA, so it was 100% guaranteed that no one was there. Ever.
First Jump
The first capital ship that managed to jump to the moon was CCS Chemosh Sovereign. It was also the first capital ship assembled in Starbase history since EA launch. The historical flight of the historical vessel.
Red Ring
Chemosh is the only moon with red belt, which is called the Red Ring. It is very slim, but at the same time very beautiful on edges and contains some valuable ores.
Moon mining
There are very few ores below the surface, so if one wants to live here - he will probably need good logistics to Eos belt.
The crust of Chemosh contains very poor amounts of Arkanium, Surtrite, Bastium, Vokarium, Exorium.
The belt of Chemosh contains: Charodium, Bastium, Surtrite, Nurghite, Lukium, Xhallium, Targium.
The crust of its submoon Sugon contains very poor amounts of Bastium, Charodium, Aegisium, Vokarium
Dev names
All moons in the game have dev names that Frozenbyte employees use internally for workflow convenience. None of them are known, except the one that relates to this moon. As VilleFB once said, all internal moon names are very easy to remember. And this particular moon is marked as Moon C1. However when it comes to patch notes, dev blogs and community talks, Frozenbyte Community Managers and other employees tend to stick to community names.
Update: Recently a new list of new moon names were announced, and later on it was confirmed by multiple Frozenbyte employees that it was valid and will be implemented to the game at some point. According to the official list Chemosh moon will be renamed to Vello.
Submoons
Sugon - is the only submoon of Chemosh. It was discovered by Lanata, who gave it the name. Located about 700 km from Red Ring, Sugon is a tiny celestial, that has a barren rocky landscape, no atmosphere and very poor ores. True Chemosh Cult uses their own 'sacred' name of that moon internally, however public use of it, including but not limited to explicit mentioning - is strictly prohibited, due to internal Chemosh policy. Revealing that name to the 'unbelievers' is considered 'heresy' in Chemosh
Any public name change of the celestial is considered harmful and malicious to the game and the community, while being a severe disrespect to the discoverer, whether we like him or not. We always credit the discoverer and recognize his discoveries, no matter who he was and what he had done to us, to the game, or to the community before or after the discovery. And we encourage the community to do the same and always respect/recognize other people's discoveries. (c) Chemosh
Sovereignty
Currently the game offers no Sovereignty claim mechanic. However one faction 'claims' the ownership of Chemosh, Sugon and the surrounding space. It is True Chemosh Cult, led by Messir, the first endo who reached this place. They say that they annexed both moons and proclaimed here the new space state 'Astaroth Homunculate [AH]'. Which is the first proclaimed sovereignty in the history of Starbase. However means of space control - are still questionable at the current game state.
