Summary

Starbase turntable.png

Turntables are mounted platforms for devices.
Machinery such as cannons and tractor beams can be mounted on top of the turntables.

  • Turntables enable the mounted device to rotate around their Y-axis.
  • The mounted machinery is usually first mounted to a cradle to enable pitch.

Basic information

Turntable's target rotation can be set with universal tool, or by connecting it to a control device such as a lever or a button.

  • Set the target rotation to a value between the maximum and minimum rotation. The turntable then tries to rotate to the given angle.
  • Turntables come in two different sizes - 72x72cm and 129x192cm

Each turntable has a base that must be mounted to a device base and a rotating piece which can accept a variety of structures Structures differ in shape but they are always designed to house a special cradle or without special side-mounted rotating bits Instead of a struct you can also place a Devices directly onto it for things winch you don't want to be able to elevate A cradle is a middle structure that can only accept certain weapons and devices, which it can power it comes in only one size and can mount either a single standard weapon mounted on the weapons bottom or two standard weapons on the sides. it is also wide enough to support a Railgun, mining laser or tractor beam. Side mounted rotating pieces act as device bases and can accept (power) fixed mounts. Fixed mounts on their own can power weapons mounted on them Turntable speed is determined by the mass of all the attachments so the more stuff you put on it the slower the turn speed Turntables are too weak to withstand the stress generated by thrusters they also provide no cable connection between the ship and the Devices attached
