Summary

File:Starbase modular generator.jpg
Generators are the most essential part of the ship, or any construct that needs generated pwor. It is required for the spaceship to function as it powers mostly everything in the ship.

  • Every machine on a ship must be connected to a generator (or to a battery) with a cable in order to work.
  • A generator is constructed from several modules that must be assembled with in certain rules, and all the modules must be bolted to each other.
  • Generator must be placed inside a spaceship, safe from any outside hazards (like radiation or gunfire).

Generally the generator consists of at least one generator chamber, at least one cooling board (with cooling cells), at least one fuel chamber (with the fuel rod) and at least one socket board.

Basic information

The generator modules are based on 96cm grid.
You can combine modules to build a generator to match your needs in shape, size and efficiency.

There will be four main modules and enhancers:

  • The fuel chamber (where fuel rod is placed, and where to process raw fuel to processed fuel)
  • The generator unit (where to process processed fuel to power)
  • The cooling board (where cooling cells are placed, and where to process coolant to reduce heat)
  • The socket board (for cables)
  • Enhancers (to improve efficiency, three different tiers)

The generator creates it's own resource network where it distributes and processes five different resources:

  • Raw Fuel - Stored in the fuel rod.
  • Processed Fuel - Processed in the fuel chamber from Raw Fuel.
  • Power - Processed in the generator unit from Processed Fuel.
  • Heat - Produced from the two above processes.
  • Coolant - Stored in the cooling cells. Processed in the cooling board to reduce Heat.

Generator modules

Fuel rod

  • Stores the Raw Fuel.
  • Placed inside a fuel chamber.
  • Distributes Raw Fuel to the fuel chamber.

The fuel chamber

  • Receives Raw Fuel from the fuel rod and process it to Processed Fuel.
    • This process also generates Heat.
  • Distributes Processed Fuel to generator units.
  • There are nine connectors, two on each long side and one on the "back" wall.
  • Other modules can be attached to the connectors.
  • If there is enhancement effect touching the fuel chamber, the efficiency rate of processing Processed Fuel from Raw Fuel increases.

The generator unit

  • Receives Processed Fuel from the fuel chamber and process it to Power.
    • This process also generates Heat.
    • NOTE! The generators will constantly consume Processed fuel, wasting excess Power unless their ConversionRateLimit is changed via YOLOL
  • There are six connectors, one on each side.
  • Other modules can be attached to the connectors.
    • For every adjacent generator unit, extra heat will be produced as penalty.
    • Tip: If you stack generator units close together, you might get extra benefit from the enhancers. The trade-off is more heat produced that must be cooled down.
  • If there is enhancement effect touching the generator unit, the efficiency of processing Power from Processed Fuel increases.

The cooling cells

  • Stores the Coolant.
  • Placed inside a cooling board.
  • Distributes Coolant to the cooling board.

The cooling board

  • The cooling board can hold up to three cooling cells.
  • Receives Coolant from the cooling cells and process it to reduce Heat.
  • It is irrelevant where the cooling board is placed. The cooling pipes that run throughout the whole system will handle the cooling of all the fuel chambers and generator units.
  • Only the calculated amount of Heat that the whole system produces is relevant. The cooling power of the cooling board must match the Heat amount produced, or preferably exceed it.
  • There is only one connector on the cooling board.
  • If there is enhancement effect touching the cooling board, the efficiency rate of reducing Heat from processing Coolant increases.

The socket board

  • Connects cables.
  • Distributes Power to a data network.
  • There is only one connector on the socket board.
  • Doesn't get any benefits from enhancers.

Enhancers

  • Casts a beam that goes through modules. If the beam hits a module, that module gets benefits.
  • There are three tiers on these modules.
    • One that casts a beam that can reach 96cm (only the module it is attached to).
    • One that casts a beam that can reach 192cm (possibly two modules).
    • One that casts a beam that can reach 288cm (possibly three modules).
  • There is only one connector on the enhancer.
  • Enhancers don't get benefits from other enhancers.
  • If several beams are hitting the same module, there will be extra benefit, but not cumulative benefits.
