Mission statement
The Arbiters' Ambition is a strictly neutral collective of players who aim to progressively develop an affluent militaristic, diplomatic and economic entity that is committed to influencing and regulating the course of Starbase's cumulative history. It dedicates itself to make a lasting mark on the game's universe and direct its diplomatic and political landscape to take compelling courses.
History and development
On the 9th of July 2019, the Symmachian Syndicate was founded by members of the current Ambition's Administration. After time, the Symmachian Syndicate split up into two factions in an effort to find a different approach to leadership: One faction that allows its members to focus on the Syndicate's original ideologies, which resulted in the creation of the Arbiters' Ambition, and another faction that kept the Symmachian Syndicates aspired playstyle, which ended up as the German-only faction Zer0³. After the split, months were spent developing a consistent, reliable internal structure that is catered specifically to the needs of the Ambition and has proven to provide an efficient organization. The faction went public and started recruitment efforts on the 11th of February 2020.
Faction structure
There are a few distinct elements that allow the Ambition to work in an organized manner. They are the primary tools to structure the community based on each individual member’s preferences and enable the faction to operate in a decentralized manner.
- The Administration: The leadership council of the Ambition, making decisions and setting goals for the entire faction.
- Families: Where a business has departments, the closest thing the Ambition has to offer are Families: The overarching groups that every member belongs to, each catering to a specific playstyle, but independent in nature.
- Units: To allow members to play in groups with friends and concentrate on different tasks within their families, higher-ranking members take over management of a Unit along with the members of it. This provides the primary means to decentralize workloads for the faction.
- Ranks: As a group with meritocratic values, the Ambition rewards those members that put in effort and gives them the opportunity to move something within the faction by taking over an administrative role and grow their own Units.
- Merit: Participation and dedication are highly valued. As such, the Ambition wants to incentivize and reward members for their efforts. The merit system is what allows this: The more a member bring themselves in, the more the faction will give them the means to grow themselves and those around them.
Business
By principle, the Ambition is open to anything. However, what offers it decides to accept always depends on the current political landscape and its existing obligations. In short: Client requests are accepted or rejected case-by-case, depending on whether it fits into the Ambitions agenda. Typical client order are for example:
- Trade: The buying and selling of resources and/or ships.
- Services & Commissions: Building ships, setting up factories/outputs, etc.
- Agreements: Forming more permanent relations.
- Mediation: Mediating between factions in a large conflict or between members or parts of a faction.
- Cooperative Operations: Joint assaults, training sessions, influencing markets, etc.
They key point to deals with the Ambition is that they are absolutely discreet, meaning the Ambition does not talk about it publicly or with other factions or players outside without the client's knowledge or approval. Deals with the Ambition are often free or in exchange for the promise of favors in the future.
