Minimum system requirements

Minimum system requirements for Starbase (Early Access):

• Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
• OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
• Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB
• DirectX: Version 11
• Additional Notes: We will revise the requirements closer to Early Access launch

Recommended system requirements

Recommended system requirements for Starbase (Early Access):

• Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
• OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
• Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 / Intel i7-6700k
• Memory: 16 GB RAM
• Graphics: Radeon RX Vega 8 GB / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11 GB
• DirectX: Version 11
• Network: Broadband Internet connection
• Storage: 30 GB available space
• Additional Notes: The game requires an Internet connection to play.

Notes

Note to people planning on updating their PC/parts: We do not recommend updating or purchasing parts in preparation for Starbase until the game is well into its Early Access journey. Generally speaking Starbase runs on a wide variety of PC systems already, and our official recommended system requirements are not the real "minimum".

Note on Linux/Mac

We are currently not planning Linux or Mac support due to the complex nature of the game and our development environment. Linux gamers may get lucky with Proton (check e.g. ProtonDB. Cloud-based solutions like GeForce Now may also help Linux and Mac gamers. For full disclosure: We cannot guarantee that Starbase runs on Proton/GFN on Linux/Mac and we provide no official support for Linux or Mac.

Note on Windows support

Officially we only support Windows 10. Unofficially the game may run on older versions of Windows, including Windows 7. However once we move to DirectX 12 based renderer, support for Windows 7 will be dropped. This can happen in 2021-2022 and we will try to update this page at that time.

Note on GPU VRAM

We recommend a good amount of GPU VRAM but the game should run on less as well.

Note on VR

Starbase does not currently support VR. We have categorized VR as a "nice to have" feature and may look into adding support at a later date.
