General rules

This page is a summary of the rules in and around Starbase. All rules are work-in-progress (but still in effect).

Streaming and videos

During Closed Alpha we would kindly ask everybody to be mindful of the fact that the game is still in Closed Alpha, and generally speaking not ready for a larger audience. We have a rule of thumb for videos and streams during Closed Alpha:

• Creating and posting videos that make it clear that the game is in Closed Alpha are ok but please don't do a "review" video. We don't want reviews right now because the game is not ready for it. Reviews are fine when we are asking money for the game, i.e. in Early Access. Even after Early Access launch it should be noted that the game will be improving on a weekly basis so many EA launch reviews will be out-of-date very fast.

There is no NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) for Closed Alpha.

We will start inviting big streamers to the game around Early Access launch. However if you have a sizable audience (1000+) and have received access to the game, please let us know so we can keep track and keep you updated on the latest changes.

General guidelines

Streaming and posting videos about Starbase is ok. You are also free to use Starbase music in videos that are related to Starbase, and monetize those videos (however monetizing the music otherwise is not permitted).

Re-posting official videos

Re-posting our official videos as-is is allowed but you must not try to pass them off as your original content. Creating translations in your local language is also allowed.

We want to foster original content around the game so we always recommend adding e.g. your own commentary.

You are allowed to take snippets from any official videos and provide commentary or other original content on top or in addition to the official snippet.

In all cases, we kindly ask a link to the original official video and/or the Frozenbyte YouTube channel.

Special permissions

Special permissions can be granted for projects that are interesting and benefit the game. However, we reserve the right to cancel any permissions later if there are unforeseen consequences (including but not limited to a technique exposing the game to cheaters and us having to ban all tampering with that technique).

Note: NEVER download any third party program or script unless you can verify it comes from a trusted source and does not contain malware or viruses. We do not officially recommend or endorse any of these projects and they are not needed to play Starbase. Information on this page is provided for clarity on what is allowed (whether experimental or not) and what is not.

Note that generally speaking all tampering with the game files and memory and output is prohibited. If you have an idea for a project, please get in touch (Discord #starbase-questions) and we may grant a special permission for the project.

Any permission may be revoked at any time, and past permission is not indicative of future permission.
