History
Years ago, in dates long lost, Matrix Teknologies was made by a single man, trying to start his own indie game company. Nothing happened with it, but the name stuck around between him and his friends. Eventually turning into just MatrixTek, the non-existent company went through many changes, eventually landing on a gaming community with propmaking on the side. This community currently only holds friends in it, but there's no shame in that. MatrixTek Exploration (MTE) officially started in March, after realizing that faction advertising has long been a thing. Almost immediately, MatrixTek merged with faction ORIGIN, whose leader left less than a month after, and it was then reformed into MatrixTek, once again.
Goals
As with any company or nation, our goals are based around expansion. Expanding our people, resources, and territory. We strive to be self-sufficient, without always needing to trade for resources. (but will if we must) We wish not for conflict, but we won't stand down.
We are here to experience the universe given to us, in our way.
Departments and Branches
MatrixTek Exploration is split into 5 departments: Military Logistics Engineering Research and Development Public Relations
Each department has it's own branches, and all work with each other at some point.
While you may join one department/branch, that will be your focus. But so long as you have permission, you're able to work with other departments as well. We want you to be able to play the game how you want to, and not restrict you to one thing.
Military
The combat department of MTE. In previous versions of MatrixTek over the years, the militarized section of MatrixTek was known as Security, as their roles were mostly restricted to guarding MatrixTek stations. Now, they are a full military asset ready to go on the offensive when needed.
The branches of the Military are:
The bread and butter of MTE. They work closely with all branches, working in most roles such combat, exploration and escort. They are the most common of personnel, but they are all just as important as any other.
Marines
The infantry of MTE. They work mainly with the Navy, but work with other branches as well. Stationed just about everywhere there is MTE presence, especially on larger ships
Logistics
Logistics over the resource acquisition and management of the company. They play the most important role in any company or nation.
Their branches are:
Mining and Salvaging
Mining covers the acquisition of raw materials from asteroids.
Salvaging covers the acquisition of broken/damaged ships to break down, or give to Engineering for repair.
Transportation
Transportation works with the Navy to transport materials to and from various MTE and/or allied facilities.
Accounting
Accounting manages the resources within the faction, letting Engineering know if they have enough resources for a project, or telling Mining to go get more.
They also watch the economy, to know what stations from what factions are selling what, at what price.
Engineering
Engineering focuses on utilizing resources allocated by Accounting and modules from R&D to build ships, as well as repairing damaged/broken ships and stations.
Their branches are:
Assembly
Assembly is the Macro of ship building. They may utilize modules designed by R&D to create the ships that are used by MatrixTek.
Maintenance
Maintenance is fairly self-explanatory. They maintain the ships and stations of MTE.
Processing
A small branch, Processing handles the refinement of ores into ingots.
Research and Development
R&D is pretty much exactly what it sounds like, it looks into new and better systems and modules for ships.
Their branches are:
Systems Research
R&D-SR handles the programming side of ship creation. They look into developing new/better advanced YOLOL systems.
Module Design
R&D-MD handles the design of ship modules. These usually include turrets, generator packs, engine modules, etc.
Integration Deployment
R&D-ID handles the integration of systems into ships and stations.
Public Relations
Good ol' PR. This whole page is technically PR. Public Relations handles inter-faction relations, and recruitment.
Their branches are:
Recruiting
As part of the goals of MTE, expansion requires people. Recruiting's job is to bring in those people. Tends to work with Marketing.
Universal Affairs
Universal Affairs handles all types of diplomacy with other factions.
Marketing
Marketing handles the general public image of MTE. Tends to work with Recruiting.
