Company Overview

The Knights of Orion are a neutral mercenary company, specializing in military and private security contracts. Instead of prioritizing territorial gain and control over space, the Knighthood focuses on remaining a neutral company that can be hired by any organization that is in need of military or security assistance.

Company Organization

Within the Company, ranks are used solely as a means of administration and to ensure the success of the Knighthood as well as execution of contracts. Aside from this, rank does not equate to more worth - all Knights are equal, but leadership is required. These ranks are:

Squire: New members who are being evaluated and familiarized with the workings of the Company.

Knight of Orion: Fully-fledged members of the Knighthood.

Knight Sergeant: Experienced members of the Knighthood who may act in various leadership roles.

Knight Captain: Officers of the Knighthood who are responsible for administrative functions, combat leadership, and contract execution.

Knight Commander: Officers of the Knighthood who manage administrative functions, day-to-day operations, contract negotiations, and all other responsibilities that are required of them.

Within the Company, all Knights are generally free to fulfill any role they wish, from ship creation/maintenance, YOLOL coding, recruitment, etc. but all Knights are required to serve in contracts, and are expected to be competent, capable and effective in combat.

Contracts

The Knights of Orion undertake contracts for a fixed period of time, typically no more than a week. Contracts can include, but are not limited to:

Site Security / Security Patrols

Armed Escort / Fleet Protection

Reconnaissance Operations

Privateer Operations

Ambush / Raid Operations

Full-Spectrum Offense/Defense Operations

Within the contract, the Client will specify the actions to be undertaken by the Knights of Orion, looting rights (to include captured ships), and other considerations. When contracted to engage in direct military conflict (non-security), the Knights of Orion reserve the right to disclose that they are under contract, contract length, and the information of the Client. Upon the termination of the contract, the Knights of Orion will immediately cease hostilities if applicable. These contracts and the rate charged is determined based on contract length, type, enemy and friendly strength, and other factors. The Knights of Orion will not accept any contract that represents a conflict of interest with any ongoing contract.

Recruitment

The Knights of Orion are selective in recruitment - typically, a new recruit (Squire) must have a sponsor who vouches for their capability. After an serving as a Squire for a period of time, recruits are promoted to become fully-fledged members of the Company. Open recruiting is not common, but it is not unheard of; the Knighthood may select worthy individuals who are not affiliated with any members of the Company from time to time.
