Imperium Ignis, otherwise known as just 'The Imperium' is a nation founded on the principles of war and discipline, where members can strive to become something greater than just a cog in the machine.
History
In September of 2019, me and my close friend Whale banded together to form a faction who would provide its members with an uncompromised sense of freedom, one which would try to avoid the mistakes made by others of its kind, and one where citizens can live without fear, away from the oppression of the stereotypical authoritarian mindset. We believe that for a dictatorship to work, the leader must see leadership as a responsibility rather than a privilege, and we have strived to preserve that idea.
However, we would not be without detractors. In December of 2019, just as the new year was drawing near, we would come to one of the most decisive moments of our incredibly short history. An officer, one which had been given full permissions on Whale's order, went rogue and perhaps ended up taking us down the path of stagnation we currently face as of writing. Due to the permissions Whale had given him, he took the freedom to fully erase the Imperium's discord and members, leaving behind spiteful message after spiteful message for any of those who would question what he was doing. This meant everything from the Imperium's founding until then had been erased for good. It would be a difficult task to try to rebuild. Some previous members retaliated, believing we had ordered him to do such a thing, or that we had targeted them specifically. We were left crumbling and stagnating, with about 10 members less than we had had before.
Just a few days after, a second disaster struck. Another officer, our Legatus, had been indefinitely banned from the official Starbase discord after continuously breaking the rules and disobeying the admins. In his rage, he threw a fit in the Imperium's discord. It was so severe that we were forced to remove him as well, which even further fueled his rampage. In only a few hours, he had infiltrated the discord with a secondary account and was threatening me with raiding the entire server and putting the faction down for good. In spite of us mocking him, it was clear that a desperate measure had to be taken, just in case the scenario ever arose. The server went on lockdown for 1 - 2 weeks. We conducted a background check on every new member, checking their message history on Starbase's discord, as well as among those of allied factions. The lockdown was soon lifted, and all returned to normal for the time being.
Unfortunately, there would be a third incident. On the 20th of January, just 3 weeks before writing, the last two of our original officers would stir up dissent and eventually betray the Imperium altogether. I would come to blows with our Admiral and Vice-Admiral over their perpetual refusal to follow my orders to stop their extremely irritating, childish behaviour. They would both be removed, and, in spite of the Imperium, they would found their own faction. A derivative one, that much is sure.
(30/04/2020): This conflict came to a summit on the 24th of April 2020, when, with the aid of Republic, a group chat was established upon our request, in order to put the hostilities to rest once and for all. The Federation, of course, would be having none of it and went on to systematically ignore every piece of evidence that was presented against them. Needless to say, hostilities did not cease.
(02/05/2020): In the shadow of the previous conversation, The Federation realised that they would do better to cut their losses. So on this day, the 2nd of May, 2020, the Galactic Federation officially ceased all hostilities with the Imperium by putting out an apology in their official discord and making amends to the damage they had caused to our reputation by informing their allies of the misinformation they had been spreading. Peace between both parties has finally be agreed, and may it last for a thousand ages.
Our Goals
Our goal as a faction is to safeguard the freedom and independence of our citizens, and this will be achieved in various ways. For example:
- Upholding a strong military to repel any who would challenge us
- Developing strong and secure infrastructure to facilitate a top-of-the-line member experience
- Always providing our members with a chance to rise and become something more
The Structure of the Imperium
Sectors
Sectors are the overarching organizations within the Imperium, which all fill their own purpose and, in conjunction, ensure the Imperium can remain stable and thrive.
Civil Sector
The civil sector consists of basic civilians that do not have any specific occupation.
- Imperial Citizen: The everyday citizens of the Imperium that are either unemployed or have just joined the Imperium.
- Entrepreneur: Merchants or business owners who look forward to making a living within the Imperium.
- Representative: A representative or member of another faction.
Institute Of Research
The research sector paves the path for advancements in technology and carries out exploration projects to chart the galaxy.
- Pathfinder: Explorers and cartographers who delve into the farthest reaches of the known universe to chart it.
- Researcher: Those who take up the daunting task of experimenting with previously undiscovered materials or technology.
- Director of Research: The overseer of the Imperium's research sector.
Industrial Sector
The Industrial sector deals with all of the Imperium's production and refinement of resources, which fuels every other sector in the Imperium.
- Scrapper: Engineers who break down ships into parts and clear the battlefield of wrecks.
- Transport: Transports are in charge of the Imperium's logistics and transport resources, parts and personnel across the Imperium.
- Miner: Miners harvest resources to fuel the Imperium's industry.
- Engineer: Designers and YOLOL experts who draft and program the Imperium's systems and ships.
- Manufacturer: Craftsmen who produce the Imperium's parts and ships, and construct various structures from stations to cities.
- Overseer: An officer in charge of each division of the Industry sector.
- Minister of Industry: The director of the Imperium's Industry sector. Works closely with other sectors to ensure everything is being supplied appropriately.
The Imperial Legion
The Imperium's legions are the most integral part of the Imperium, for they bring stability, but also allow the Imperium to defend itself in times of need.
- Legionary: Legionaries are completely standardized soldiers which make up the bulk of the Imperium's fighting force. Legionaries must be Imperial citizens.
- Auxiliary: Auxiliary soldiers are specialized soldiers (e.g Explosives Experts, Combat Medics, Sappers) who more often than not provide support for the Legion. Auxiliary soldiers can be recruited as mercenaries or as envoys from allied factions.
- The Legatus is the most senior of the ranks and commands the entirety of an Imperial Legion.
- Tribunes are responsible for managing the Legion's activities out of battle.
- Praefectus Castrorum manages troop training and drills at the outpost the legion is currently stationed at.
- Primus Pilus is a senior Centurion who commands the Evocatii cohort (Cohort I) of a Legion.
Auxiliary army units do not follow this structure. The largest unit of an Auxiliary is the cohort. These compact, more maneuverable groups are led by the Praefectus Cohortis. The Praefectus Cohortis, while holding some authority within the Legion, does not command Legionaries. This task falls onto officers directly associated with the Legion.
(Naturally, the original structure of the Roman Legion and the function of the roles had to be altered in order to accommodate a significantly smaller amount of soldiers and account for the differences between traditional warfare and sci-fi warfare.)
The navy is also one of the most important pillars of the Imperium. Our naval forces provide ample security and allow us to take the fight to our enemy. Furthermore, the Navy also manages the transport of the Imperial Legions under the strict watch of the Admiral.
- Gunner: Crew who man the guns of the Imperium's ships. They also receive appropriate training to double as engineers in emergencies.
- Marine: Marines are similar to Legionaries. They stand watch over the most important sections of a ship and make up the forces with which boarding actions will be carried out.
- Pilot: Commanders of smaller ships, such as fighters and frigates.
- Midshipman: More experienced members of the navy which are trusted with piloting and co-piloting some of the Imperium's larger ships. (Being promoted to a midshipman doesn't mean you can't still pilot smaller ships.)
- Captain: The second-in-command to the navy's Admiral. Is the most experienced rank still tasked with piloting ships, and captains will be assigned to the largest, such as battleships and flagships.
- Admiral: The Commander of the entire navy and orchestrator of the Imperium's most important strikes against the enemy. The Admiral is responsible for everything to do with the navy outside of combat as well, such as arranging escorts and patrols.

Officers
We are also looking for trustworthy officers to join the ranks! To apply, send me a DM or join the discord server and head over to the role assignment channel where we have links to all the Imperial Officer surveys. Taking the survey will, however, not guarantee you a place. Depending on your response, we might ask for a separate interview. This is to ensure that only the most competent and loyal officers are selected, in order to make the Imperium stronger, not weaker.
