Unlike a heatsink and radiator system, a coolant rack is not designed for long-term usage, as its coolant is quickly used up during operation and will require replenishing.
Basic Usage
* The cooling board can hold up to three cooling cells.
* Receives Coolant from the cooling cells and processes it to reduce Heat.
** Coolant cells will slowly replenish their supply of fresh coolant over time. However, a coolant recharge rack can be used to expedite this process.

* The cooling board can be placed anywhere on a generator, and will provide coolant to each generator of the complex it is directly connected to. Generator complexes connected via pipe will not share coolant.
* A single coolant rack can provide up to 5,000 coolant per second (half of the coolant cell's capacity), and can disperse 5 units of heat with 1 unit of coolant. Thus, a coolant rack can disperse up to 25,000 heat per second.
** See heat and cooling for more info.

* There is only one connector on the cooling board.
Usage
Heatsinks facilitate the interaction between devices that produce heat (such as generators, fuel chambers, and mounted weapons) and the devices that can dissipate heat (such as radiators). Heatsinks can be used to effectively bypass the transfer limitation for heat that exists between devices and radiators, as their thermal transfer limitation is significantly higher. Despite their significant visual differences, each heatsink style has the same effective mass and thermal properties.
}}Heat is a byproduct of the operation of many devices and machines, and must be dissipated to maintain peak efficiency. It is created primarily during the operation of generators and mounted weapons, and can be stored in a heatsink, dissipated with radiators, or (in the case of generators) rapidly nullified with coolant cells. Devices are also capable of dispersing some small amount of heat by themselves, though it should not be relied upon as a viable thermal control for a ship.

Production of Heat
Currently, only generators and mounted weapons produce heat that must be dispersed, the former of which produces a quantity of heat that is generally proportional to the amount of electricity it is producing (for example, tier 3 generator units produce both the highest amount of electricity and heat per unit as compared to other tiers of generator units).

Effects of Proximity on Heat
For generator units, adjacency is an important consideration for a well-balanced system. Each device in an assembled generator (fuel chambers, enhancers, or even other generator units) will not only add its own heat to the equation, but will also insulate connected devices. This 'insulation' will increase the amount of heat that each directly adjacent device produces, proportional to the number of the devices that are contributing to the insulating effect. A well-designed generator assembly must take this into consideration, as densely packed generators will produce exponentially more heat per device when compared to those with isolated devices.

<div style="display:flex;justify-content:center;"><gallery mode="packed-hover" caption="The effects of proximity on heat generation" widths=400px heights=300px>
File:Heat Mechanics, Generator Layout 1.png
File:Heat Mechanics, Generator Layout 2.png
</gallery></div>

Heat Tokens
The maximum amount of heat that any one device can produce is contingent upon a symbolic representation of data known as a Heat Token: The more of these tokens that a device has associated with it, the higher the limit for maximum heat is raised, by a value that is specific to each device. Generators and fuel chambers will add a heat token to each device which it is connected to, thus raising the heat-producing potential of the system. Though a single device could conceivably have dozens of these heat tokens, it will only pass one on to each adjacent device.

<div style="display:flex;justify-content:center;"><gallery mode="packed-hover" caption="Generator layouts with considerations made to address heat potential" widths=400px heights=300px>
File:Heat tokens, 1.jpg
File:Heat tokens, 2.jpg
</gallery></div>

Each component has a technical maximum of heat tokens which it can obtain, which is naturally proportional to the number of modular interfaces it has - however, enhancers will apply numerous heat tokens to the device. It is important to consider the placement of generator modules, as the effect of heat tokens increases exponentially with quantity (displayed below).
Enhancers
Enhancers are used to quickly boost the rate of production of electricity in a generator unit by increasing the efficiency with which they utilize fuel, and can be easily turned on and off with YOLOL. However, while a generator unit with an attached and activated enhancer unit will produce significantly more electricity, it will also suffer an exponential increase in heat output. While an enhancer can be used to maximize power output (for as long as the cooling performance can keep up), it can also be used to boost efficiency at lower generation states, allowing the production of power at a comparatively lower fuel cost -- though, this will still generate extra heat. Enhancers affect the generation of heat by adding to the quantity of heat tokens held by the device to which they are attached.

It should be noted that, though enhancers increase the heat potential of a generator system, enhancers themselves are unaffected by heat.

{|class="wikitable mw-collapsible" align="center" style="text-align:center;"

* Note: Enhancers have traditionally been used on fuel rod chambers. However, when these mechanics are added to the live universe, enhancers will no longer have any effect when applied to fuel rod chambers. They will instead affect only generator units.

Dispersion of Heat
All heat-producing devices have a specific heat capacity which allows it to buffer heat generated from itself or adjacent devices, much like a battery can store electricity. These devices can also radiate some small amount of heat on their own, providing a constant passive cooling rate. Though this effect is constant, heat must be managed via the ship's pipe network, and be transferred to a heatsink, radiator, or cooling cell in order to be effectively dissipated. However, these devices can only transfer a small portion of their generated heat directly to a radiator, after which point the heat will begin to accumulate in the device's heat capacity. A heatsink must instead be utilized to capture the excess heat, as these devices have both a very high heat capacity as well as the ability to transfer vastly more thermal energy to a radiator than any other device could. After heat has been transferred (whether it be directly or via a heatsink), it can be dissipated extremely quickly by the radiator.

Thermal Soak
As mentioned before, all devices have a certain capacity for heat, which can be filled up by its own operation or by the operation of devices connected to it. Once this capacity has been saturated, the device will overheat and shutdown until the heat stored within it has been managed. Since all heat-producing devices can dissipate some amount of heat on their own and have this specific amount of heat capacity, many devices can be operated without being dependent on a dedicated cooling system. However, this naturally comes at the caveat of putting an extreme limitation on the usage of the device in question: Generators will only be able to produce electricity at a fraction of their normal operating capacity, and weapons will only be able to fire periodically (if at all).

YOLOL
All devices that produce heat have device fields to monitor properties such as thermal load and storage. YOLOL plays a key role in the management of heat, as it can be used not only to monitor the generation and storage of heat in any particular device, but also to finely modulate the transfer of heat itself, be that by adjusting the transfer rate to or from a heatsink or radiator, or by adjusting coolant flow from a coolant cell. With the proper YOLOL, all generator characteristics pertaining to heat management can be automatically maintained.
Summary
This guide is an introduction to spaceship building in Starbase. It will introduce the basics of spaceship hull structure, and basic devices and machinery needed for a working spaceship.

Good To Know Before Starting
*You should have basic knowledge of device configurations and YOLOL in Starbase, as this guide includes machinery and devices.
*You should have basic knowledge of the Spaceship Designer before attempting spaceship assembly.
*Spaceship Designer: Pre-made blueprints/Tutorials/Tutorial Starter Spaceship
*In Spaceship resources you will find information about different resources that spaceships will use.

Spaceship Requirements
Each spaceship requires the following things to fly:

*Valid Frame/Hull
*Thrusters
*Powersource: Generator or Batteries
*Propellant for thrusters
*Data Network
*Pipe network for propellant
*Ship controls and basic configuration

Valid Frame And Hull Structure
*All spaceships need to be built according to the durability rules in order to be able to fly without breaking.
**Foundation of the durability rules is the frame of beams which forms the ship’s hull, and to which everything else is attached to.

*A valid ship frame consists of beams connected to each other with attachment plates and bolts, and a valid thruster base (Device hardpoint) is connected to the beams directly.
**The hardpoint is connected to beams with at least two bolts, and an actual thruster is in contact with the hardpoint.
**The thruster has to be properly positioned (forming a data connection with the base) and connected to the same frame as the base.

*Ship frame must be consistent, there can't be two different frames that are not connected to each other.
**If there are two separate frames, the bigger one will be used as there can be only one frame.
<gallery widths=500px heights=400px mode="nolines">
File:Frame_example.jpg
</gallery>

Beam Frame
<gallery widths=500px heights=400px mode="nolines">
File:Attachment_plate_beam_example.jpg
</gallery>

Plates
Outer Plates
*Outer plating protects the ship from weapon fire, collisions and radiation during warp travel.
*There should not be any gaps on the exterior plating of the ship, otherwise radiation gets through during warp travel. Beams and plates withstand normal flying and there can be exposed beams if the ship is not meant for warp travel.
*Plates are connected to the frame with bolts.

Inner Plates
*The main difference between inner and outer plates is the material.
*Inner plating is not necessary regarding the ship's durability and ability fly, but makes it easier to walk inside the ship, and helps with weapon damage.
*It is recommended to have at least some interior plating to make character movement smoother and make the ship interior more aesthetic.
*Interior plating also helps when placing machinery, devices, cables and piping.
<gallery widths=300px heights=300px mode="nolines">
File:Outer_inner_plates_example.jpg
</gallery>

Hardpoints
*Thrusters and other machinery outside the ship’s hull have to be connected to the ship’s data network.
*Thrusters also need to be connected to the ship’s propellant gas network.
*Connecting thrusters and machinery to the spaceship networks is done with hardpoints.
*Hardpoints have pipe and cable slots for connecting pipes and cables. This means hardpoints need to be placed on the frame so that cabling and piping can be done.

*As thrusters need hardpoints to work, it is important to pay attention to where to place the hardpoints. Thruster locations greatly affect how the ship flies and how easily the ship can be maneuvered.
<gallery widths=400px heights=400px mode="nolines">
File:Hardpoint_example_.jpg
</gallery>

Modules
*Modules are plates, beams, etc. which are grouped together. The purpose of the modules is to make constructing spaceships faster and easier than using single parts.

*Every module has at least one Parent Object (Green Sphere) that ties the objects in the module together. Modules can be moved and rotated as a whole by having green sphere selected (module icon).

*It is highly recommended that beginners start building with modules.
**Using modules should automatically ensure that the spaceship structure is correct.
**Modules are the best way to learn the building grid and good building patterns.
**There is a lot of different building parts in the game and this can be overwhelming at first. Using modules reduces the number of building parts you need to remember.
**The building process will be faster and the progress is easier to notice.
**Basic modules for smaller and medium sized ships are introduced in: Premade blueprints/Tutorials/Tutorial Starter Spaceship
**The basic modules are for building 90 degree angles. This means the hull will have box-like appearance at first. The hull can be decorated with decoration parts and normal plates later on. <br>
<gallery widths=800px heights=900px mode="nolines">
File:Basic_starter_set_modules_guide_picture.jpg
</gallery>

The Grid
*Spaceship modules use a 48 cm grid. This is because the basic hull thickness is 48 cm.
*Outer plating (12 cm) + beam frame (24 cm) + inner plating (12 cm) = 48 cm
*Keeping the hull structure in the grid ensures that beams connect easily.
<gallery widths=400px heights=400px mode="nolines">
File:Grid_example.jpg
</gallery>

Bolting And Durability
*Each part of the ship has its own mass. In durability calculations, the mass of different parts is transferred towards the frame via connections (bolts) and other parts. This means parts close to the frame need to support all the parts further away from the frame.

*When building your first spaceship, it is good to do test bolting and durability checks in the middle of the building process. This way you can avoid unnecessary extra work and keep the hull structure consistent all the time.

*Durability Tool will report No ship frame when there are no thruster bases with connected thrusters connected to the frame. When there is at least one thruster properly connected to the thruster base and both are connected to the frame with bolts, Durability Tool will show Ship Warp Class X. If the ship warp class is lower than one, it means there are parts which are poorly connected to the frame.

*When the Durability Tool shows warp class for the ship, it also means that a frame integrity check can be done. (Durability tool→ Right mouse button). The frame integrity check basically studies how solidly each frame beam (and whatever it supports) is connected to the frame-attached thrusters.

<gallery widths=400px heights=400px mode="nolines">
File:Frame_integrity_check_SSC.jpg|If the frame design is not balanced enough, certain sections may encounter too much stress. This creates a durability error for the frame beam.
File:Frame_integrity_check_SSC_2.jpg|This is the same spot but some attachment plates and bolts have been removed between beams. Notice the color change which means those beams are about to fail.
</gallery>

Thrusters
A spaceship needs thrusters to be able to fly and thrusters need to be bolted to the hull.

*Thrusters can be divided to two types: main thrusters and maneuver thrusters. Main thrusters generate forward movement and maneuver thrusters enable yaw, pitch and roll for example. Each thruster model can act as a main thruster or a maneuver thruster. To which movement the thruster will contribute, the defining factor is position and orientation of the thruster.

*Location of thrusters greatly affects how easy the ship is to maneuver. For example if your ship is missing forward facing thrusters, your ship won’t be able to fly backwards.

*Mass is also a factor when placing thrusters to your spaceship. Each beam, plate and machinery you have placed on your ship has mass. The bigger your ship is, more thrust it will need.

*Thrusters need electricity and propellant to work. Thrusters consume more propellant than power. This means civilian ships without weaponry can have smaller generators and mainly focus on propellant containers.

Maneuver thrusters
*Maneuver thrusters are usually smaller and don’t need to provide much thrust.
*There are three sizes of thrusters in Starbase: box thruster, triangle thruster and maneuver thruster. Each thruster can be used as a maneuver thruster even thought only one is named a ”maneuver thruster”.

Main thrusters
*Main thrusters are usually the thrusters that are facing backwards as this enables forward movement for the ship.

Maneuver thruster
*Max thrust: 50 000
*The small maneuver thruster is placed on a hardpoint

Box thruster
*Max thrust: 500 000
*The box thruster is connected to a hardpoint from the side and this thruster can’t be stacked

Triangle thruster
*Max thrust: 300 000
*The biggest difference the triangle thruster has compared to the other two thrusters is that it can be stacked. Only one triangle thruster needs connection with a hardpoint and more triangle thrusters can be connected to that thruster. Stacked triangle thrusters share same device field name which is linked to MFC and operate as a whole.

Power Source
Machines and devices need power in spaceships. Power can be provided with generator or batteries

Generator
Generator pieces are modular and can be used to build bigger and smaller generators. <br>
Working generator will need at least one generator fuel chamber, one small fuelrod, one generator unit, one generator socket board, one generator cooling rack and one small cooling cell.
*Place the generator in a way that there is enough room to pull out the fuel rod
*Also make sure there is an easy access to the socket board and to the coolant cells.
*The generator parts need to be bolted together and the generator needs to be bolted to the ship.
*Generator cooling can also provided by using Radiator

<gallery widths=400px heights=400px mode="nolines">
File:Generator_example.jpg
</gallery>

Propellant
Thrusters need and consume propellant to work. Propellant is stored in propellant containers. The amount of containers spaceship will need depends on how many thrusters it has.
*There are three sizes of propellant containers: small, medium and large.
*While placing the propellant containers make sure there is an access to at least two of the sockets found in the tank support.
*The propellant container needs to be bolted to the ship.

Data Network
The spaceship needs a cable network to transfer electricity to all the machinery and data between all the devices.
*Use the cabling tool to connect all the machinery and devices to the same network.
*Make sure that all the devices and machinery: thrusters, doors, MCU, FCU, levers, lamps and buttons are connected to the network.
<gallery widths=800px heights=800px mode="nolines">
File:Data_network_example.jpg
</gallery>
<gallery widths=400px heights=400px mode="nolines">
File:Data_network_example_02.jpg
</gallery>

Pipe Network For Propellant
The spaceship needs a pipe network to transfer propellant to all thrusters from propellant containers.
*Use Pipe tool to connect all propellant containers and hardpoints with thrusters.
*To get information from propellant network, containers also need to be in electricity network. Connecting one propellant container support to electricity network can be used to show the total amount of propellant in the pipe network.
<gallery widths=800px heights=800px mode="nolines">
File:Pipe_network_example.jpg
</gallery>
<gallery widths=400px heights=400px mode="nolines">
File:Cable_piping_example.jpg
</gallery>

Ship Controls And Basic Configuration
Spaceship thrusters can be controlled directly with levers, buttons and YOLOL. However YOLOL-configured thruster balance settings and flying are very ship specific configurations. The following guide explains how to use and configure Flight Control Unit (FCU) and Main Flight Computer (MFC) to do thruster balance calculations and settings for you.
*If you are interested about YOLOL configured thruster balance settings and flying you can examine Spaceship Vasama in the Spaceship Designer.

Flight Control Unit (FCU)
*The FCU gets input from control devices (levers and buttons) and sends it to the Main Flight Computer, which forwards it to the thrusters.
*The arrows on top of the FCU define the ”forward” direction of the ship.
*There can be more than one FCU connected to one Main Flight Computer.
*There are currently three FCU models in Starbase: Basic, Advanced and Premium model. Each model has a different set of ship movements available.

Basic model:
* FcuMfcIO (for connecting the MFC)
* FcuInputRange (Lever input range)
* FcuGeneralMultiplier (a "soft power switch", scales all output)
* FcuForward (moves the ship straight forward or combines FcuFwdBwd rotations with the forward movement)
* FcuBackward (moves the ship straight backward or combines FcuFwdBwd rotations with the backward movement)
* FcuRotationalPitch (in-place pitch rotation)
* FcuRotationalYaw (in-place yaw rotation)
* FcuRotationalRoll (in-place roll rotation)

Advanced model (in addition to the Basic controls):
* FcuUpDown (moves the ship straight up or down)
* FcuRightLeft (moves the ship straight right or left)

Premium model (in addition to the Advanced controls):
* FcuFwdBwdPitch (rotation combined to forward/backward movement)
* FcuFwdBwdYaw (rotation combined to forward/backward movement)
* FcuFwdBwdRoll (rotation combined to forward/backward movement)

Main Flight Computer (MFC)
*MFC is placed in the same data network with a Flight Control Unit and thrusters. The MFC and FCU share one identical device field name.
*MFC gets input from the Flight Control Unit and sends this data to the thrusters, telling them what to do. For example "pilot interacts with yaw lever". The FCU receives the information and sends it to the Main Flight Computer. The MFC then automatically decides which thursters are used to make the ship yaw.
*Each thruster group is controlled by exactly one MFC. There can be several MFCs in one ship.

Levers
The Flight Control Unit (FCU) gets input from control devices like levers and buttons. To get the levers to work with an FCU you need to configure the lever device fields to match with the FCU device fields (see picture below).

<gallery widths=600px heights=600px mode="nolines">
File:Lever_fcu_assembly_example.jpg|Examine FCU device fields and levers. Also notice matching device fields in the MFC and the FCU
</gallery>

Lever Examples
Note! These are examples for a ship that has an FCU and an MFC. Also the FCU input Range is set to 100.

</gallery>

Thruster configuration
The Main Flight Computer controls the thrusters. One MFC can handle 50 thrusters, which means there are 50 device fields for thrusters in an MFC (thrusterPowerLevelXX). These field names are set for ship's thrusters. Field names can be renamed but each thruster should have a unique device field name (excluding stacked triangle thrusters).

<gallery widths=800px heights=600px mode="nolines">
File:data_network_example.jpg| Examine the MFC device fields (thrusterpowerlevel...) and thruster device field names set to thrusters throughout the data network
</gallery>
<gallery widths=500px heights=600px mode="nolines">
File:Thruster_device_field_example_01.jpg|A configured thruster: When a thruster is connected to same data network with an MFC and is given matching field name with the MFC thruster list, the values should automatically update and be the same. Also in this case ThrusterCurrentThrust field name has been changed to T07 ( This can be linked to Progress Bar)
</gallery>

Troubleshooting
Checklist

Each spaceship needs the following things to fly:
*Valid frame/Hull
*Thrusters
*Powersource
*Propellant for thrusters
*Data Network
*Pipe network for propellant
*Ship controls and basic configuration

My ship is not moving?
# Check durability and bolting→ Thruster hardpoints are bolted to the frame and thrusters are bolted to the hardpoints/ hull. The ship frame is consistent and bolted.
# Thrusters need electricity and propellant → Check cabling and piping (all thruster hardpoints are connected to the electricity network and to the propellant pipe network.
# Electricity network (cable) is connected to the generator. Check that the generator has all the necessary parts → see 3. Powersource/generator
# Pipe network is connected to the propellant containers → see Pipe network for propellant
# Check the thruster configuration → see thruster configuration (matching device field names and values in MFC and in thrusters (If the ship is using an MFC)
# Check matching device field names in the MFC and FCU → see picture in Levers section
# Check matching device field names in the levers and in the FCU → see picture in Levers section

When I start flying my ship, some pieces of the ship detach?
*Use the Durability Tool. Check that everything is green and bolted.
My ship is almost symmetrical but still doesn’t fly straight/ turns easier to one direction?
*Some thrusters might not be working → Check : 1 , 2, 3, 4 ,5
All thrusters seem to working but ship yaw/pitch/roll is slow?
*In some cases you might need re-position thrusters or add more thrusters. Upgrading FCU to premium model which has combined movements possibilities can also be helpful in some cases.

Access
This is how to access the Lot Designer.

Step I

Start the game and choose Enter Universe from the main menu.

Step II

This takes you to the character selection menu. Choose Create character and then Enter universe. If you already have created a character, you can just choose Enter universe.

Step III

Once you've entered the world look for a free lot. Lots are found in these areas on the edges of the station, and there's different sizes to choose from.

Step IV

Once you've found a free lot you should find a terminal near its entrance with the information of the lot's daily cost. To rent the lot press Rent
<br>(Note that there can be multiple entrances and therefore multiple terminals connected to a single lot. They all share the same lot information, so feel free to use any of them at any given time.)

Step V

Once the lot is rented, you should be able to select Edit

Step VI

After pressing Edit you should be greeted with a view like this:

The UI-elements will be explained in the next section:

UI elements
Asset Browser
Asset browser works as the inventory of all your building blocks. Every module required for building a station can be found here. You can change the library view by right clicking the folders, and choosing between icons and names.
<br>Here are the folder explanations:

Halls
*Halls are room-like modules which differ greatly in size and layout. Hall floors are left empty, which leaves more room for player-made decorations.

Hallways
*Hallways are designed to create enclosed paths between halls, but they can be used in various other ways as well. For example they can be used to create extra wings to hall modules, or used as adapters between different sized connection ports.

Lot size - Small / Medium / Large
*All the modules in these folders require at least their descriptive sized lot area to function. These folders make it easier to find modules compatible to your very own rental lot.

Connection port - Small / Wide / Large
*Connection ports can be found in each and every Lot Designer module, as they are the parts from where their paths and structures connect. There are three connection port sizes: small, wide and large, and the ports need to be of the same size in order for them to connect.

Placement

The objects are placed in the scene by selecting the wanted asset from the Asset Browser by a single click of the MB1 (Mouse Button 1), moving it to the wanted position, and then placing it on the scene by another click of the MB1.
Before placing, the object is in a preview state, which is visualized by the green highlight color of the object. The previewed object can be rotated clockwise in 90-degree intervals around the Z, Y or X axes by pressing Z, Y or X. Holding down the keys and moving mouse horizontally will rotate the object in 15-degree increments and rotation can be reset by pressing Q.

View mode

Assets in the Asset Browser can be viewed by their names or unique icons. The view can be changed by a MB2 (Mouse Button 2) click on the window.

Toolbox
The toolbox has all the tools that are needed for designing a station. The currently active tool is highlighted by a yellow rounded rectangle around the tool. The available tools are explained individually in Tools-section. The toolbox also includes the Save blueprint and exit-button.

MUUS
MUUS stands for Multi User Undo System. It's designed to work with multiple users who are working in the same scene, but it works like a regular undo-system when working solo. Nearly all actions create a new step into MUUS. You can undo one step at a time or choose a certain step and undo every action done after that. One-click with the MB2 on a row opens up a menu where you can choose to undo or redo that step (and any steps related to that).

Tools
Unlike the Spaceship Designer, the Lot Designer does not have that many tools to operate but they are all explained in this section. Basic operators copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) are also included in the toolset.

Move tool
Hotkey: 1

Move tool is used whenever transforming selected objects from one location to another. Movement can be done by any three axis, of which X is represented by red, Y by green and Z by blue colored arrows. Free movement is possible by clicking on the gray cube in the center of the move tool symbol.

* Select one object by a single click of the MB1
** Continue selecting individual objects by keeping the Shift-button pressed while clicking the MB1
** Remove individual objects by keeping the Ctrl -button pressed while clicking the MB1
* Use area selection with MB1 pressed down and moving the cursor over all the objects you want to choose (note: area select also affects objects behind others, so depth needs to be taken into consideration as well to prevent accidental selection of unwanted objects).
* Adding and removing from selection works as well; keep Shift pressed and area selecting only adds to the selection, and keep Ctrl pressed and area selecting only removes from the selection

Rotate tool
Hotkey: 2

Rotate tool is for rotating objects around its axis. Similar to the move tool the rotate tool is also operated by clicking and dragging on the widget but instead of arrows you select curves. Red for X, green for Y and blue for Z. The rotation is done by 15 degree intervals. The selected object can also be rotated in 90-degree intervals around the Z, Y or X axes by pressing Z, Y or X. Holding down the keys and moving mouse horizontally will rotate the object in 15-degree increments and rotation can be reset by pressing Q.

Select tool
Hotkey: 3

The select tool is used when selecting single objects or several objects at once. Selected objects are represented with a bright blue highlight.

Getting started
Start designing
Start by placing modules into the scene. Building has to be done module-by-module starting from the lot's entrance (Note: there can be multiple entrances, depending on the lot). Blueprints with no connection to any of the lot's entrances are not buildable.
Once you are done with your design, or want to continue it later, select Save blueprint and exit from the toolbox.

Continuing design
To continue your design access the lot terminal connected to your lot, choose the blueprint you want to work on and press Edit. You can also reset the chosen blueprint by selecting Reset Active Blueprint.

Building
Once you are finished with the design you can start building by using the Building Tool or the Welding Tool.

# In order to be able to to build the design, the construction needs to have a built connection to the lot's entrance, either directly or through other constructed parts. The parts that do not have a built connection to an entrance cannot be built.
# The filling, or the "painting" of the parts in the module, has to be started from the part that is connected to the lot's entrance.
# Filling parts that have no direct connection to the entrance of the lot is only possible when the part has a connection to the entrance through other fully constructed parts.
# Only the parts that are considered as part of the module frame need to be constructed. Building anything else in a module is optional.
# The module frame consists of plates (excluding decorative plates) and windows. Decorative plates, furniture, devices and the like are not considered as parts of the module frame.
# When all of the parts considered as the frame in a module are fully constructed, work on the next connected module can begin.
# Constructing modules that have no direct connection to the lot's entrance is only possible when they have a connection to the entrance through modules with a fully constructed frame. Once again, filling the parts in the module has to be started from the part that is connected to a module with a fully constructed frame.

Building tool
To build with the Building Tool you need to equip it and have the building materials either in your Station Storage or in the crates of your ship. The most common building material is Valkite, so stocking up on it will get you far when building blueprints.

The part you want to build with the Building Tool needs to turn green, indicating it can be built.

If you have enough of the required materials, you will be able to build. To build, just press MB1 (Mouse button 1) and "paint" the part.

Welding tool
You can also build your blueprint with the Welding Tool. The Welding Tool needs a power pack in order to function. You need parts to weld in order to build your blueprint. These parts can be bought from the Marketplace.

Once you have the needed plates and other parts you can start building. When welding, the parts need to be touching something that is part of the station, meaning you can't weld something into thin air. Just place the plate where it fits, when it turns green it can be welded by holding MB1 for approximately two seconds. A circle around the welding point will indicate when the part has been welded.

You can unweld a part by pressing MB2 for approximately two seconds

Summary
A modular storage unit that stores ore and materials.

Crates can be stacked to form larger storage unit.

They share power, data and pipe network when stacked.

Crates are interacted with through a conection with a resource bridge.

Basic information
# A modular storage unit is one that holds ore and materials. It's maximum capacity is 1728 kv (the equivalent of a 120cm x 120cm x 120cm material cube).
# One crate can store only one material type at a time.
#* Requires power to be able to transfer ore within.
#* Does not require power for storing the ore.
#* Has sockets for cable and pipe connections on each side.
# Cargo crates can be attached to one another to create larger storage units. No cables or pipes needed between the crates.

Interaction
Cargo crate interaction is done with any inventory connection established with the crates.
* For example, a Mining Backpack connection will show cargo crates as slots in the backpack inventory and ore can be pulled to the game world as material cubes.

User Interface
* Each cargo crate is represented as an inventory slot in any interface they are shown.

Example usage
* Correct setup for interacting with the crates:
** Crate should have access to electricity (cables from the crate to power source like generator or battery).

Summary
A modular storage unit that stores ore and materials.

Crates can be stacked to form larger storage unit.

They share power, data and pipe network when stacked.

Basic information
# A storage unit that holds ore and materials. Maximum capacity is 1728 kv (=equivalent of 120cm x 120cm x 120cm material cube).
# One crate can store only one material type at a time.
#* Needs power to be able to transfer ore in.
#* Does not need power for storing the ore.
#* Has sockets for cable and pipe connections on each side.
# Cargo crates can be attached to each other to create larger storage units. No cables or pipes needed between the crates.

Interaction
Cargo crate interaction is done with any inventory connection established with the crates.
* For example Mining Backpack connection will show cargo crates as slots in the backpack inventory and ore can be pulled to the game world as material cubes.

User Interface
* Each cargo crate is represented as inventory slot in any interface they are shown.

Example usage
* Correct setup for interacting with the crates:
** Crate should have access to electricity (cables from the crate to power source like generator or battery).
** Crate should have pipe connection to device hardpoint which has resource bridge bolted to it.
*** The device hardpoint should have access to electricity as well (cables from the crate to power source like generator or battery).
** Player should have mining backpack equipped.
* With the above setup player should be able to activate tether connection to the resource bridge by pointing the resource bridge and pressing F.
** When connection is established player should see the crates in the mining backpack inventory.
Summary
The durability tool is used to determine weak parts of spaceships that are not able to withstand space travel.<br>
The tool has been designed to prevent critical errors in spaceship construction and modification, and to improve the overall safety of space traffic for the general public. <br>

How to use:
* The tool can be used by simply pointing it at a spaceship and then activating it.
** The tool highlights the chosen structure as:
*** Green = Durable
*** Red = Not durable

Note:
* Spaceships need to have at least one thruster base with a thruster attached to them in order for the durability tool to be able to test the durability of the ships.
Summary
Asteroid mining is an entry-level job for any endoskeleton looking for a way to make some profit.<br>
Capital Mega Stations near asteroid fields offer the mining jobs for any willing workers. <br>
Supervised mining is an easy start for anyone looking to become proficient prospector by learning the trade in a safe work environment.<br>
Workers sign in at a workstation at the Mining job hall, where they are given a pickaxe and access to the asteroids.<br>

The job consists of mining the asteroids and moving the mined materials to the collector zone.<br>

Payment
Workers are paid for the amount of work they do, so the more efficient at mining the worker is, the more they are able to earn in a shorter time. System counts the amount of materials the worker has mined and moved to the collector zone, and they get paid accordingly.

Description of a generic workday
# Workers enter the Mining job hall and choose a workstation of their preference
# They acquire a pickaxe at the workstation, which they can freely use during their stay at the Mining hall
# The more asteroids the workers are able to mine, the more money they'll get paid
# There are no time limits; the work can be stopped and the pickaxe returned at any time

Helpful tips to optimize mining!
* Credits are rewarded per kilo voxel collected.
* Each material is valued close to same price so materials does not matter much (no RNG effects).
* The Collecting Area will reward 50% bonus if collecting only single material.
* Fastest rewards will be earned slicing the asteroids in a few pieces and throwing them in to the Collecting Area.
* Examine the asteroids shape and plan how to break it with pickaxe.
* One should consider when it's more profitable separate materials from another and when just throw the whole chunk in to the Collecting Area.
* When you learn the correct techniques you should get more than 4000 credits per minute doing this job. Rumor says that you could get over 6000 credits per minute if you are really fast.
* Keep the workstation clean from excess junk and finish mining each asteroid before requesting a new one.
* You can join forces with one or more friends to mine more efficiently, but you'll also share the payment.

A tool that cuts objects in fracture level, does not do any voxel level damage. Requires electricity. Will have a rechargeable battery as a magazine.

How to use:
* The tool can be used by simply pointing it at any object and then holding the action key.
** Action 1 (left mouse button): Destroy fracture
** Action 2 (right mouse button): Detach fracture

Note:
* The objects material density and armor value will resist the saw tool and will slow down the cutting.

How to buy
Tools can be found from tool shops, that are located either on Mega Stations or on some trading stations.
The mining laser applies continuous damage to the first object hit within its configured range, making it an efficient tool in professional mining.<br>
For example the mining ship Urchin is equipped with mining lasers.

Basic information
Mining laser uses a device field to control the length and state of the laser.<br>
The mining laser is usually connected to a control device such as buttons or levers.

Device fields
Cargo lock frame is formed of series of components, which when properly assembled, enable objects to remain static when placed inside it.<br>
Due to this feature, cargo lock frames are optimal for transportation of cargo of any kind. <br>
The cargo lock frame can be transported inside a spaceship, with a cargo beam, or even by hand.

Basic information
In order to function, the cargo lock frame needs to be constructed properly from specific individual components, consisting of multiple side pieces, and eight corner pieces.<br>
When the frame is constructed and bolted together, device controller is attached to it and power is provided, cargo lock frame can be activated, locking cargo inside it in place.<br>
<br>

Cargo lock frames on/off state can be controlled with buttons and levers, or with YOLOL.<br>
<br>
Cargo lock frame can be found on the mining ship Urchin by default.
